I spoke with Millie at the PBL Food Pantry, today, while we dropped off a small cash donation & some items the Food Pantry can sell or give away as needed. I learned that the Pantry is well stocked with bread, sweets, snack foods, juice and pop. However, the Pantry is in desperate need of ground beef, pork, chicken, bacon, sausage, and other frozen meats that can be used to create healthy meals. Also, canned meats, veggies, and fruits are lacking on the shelves at the pantry. Other food items that are sorely needed are peanut butter, jellies and jams, hamburger/tuna/chicken helpers, rice, beans, Bisquick (can be used for pancakes/biscuits & other meals), cereal, dried pastas like spaghetti, & egg noodles & condiments like ketchup, mustard, mayo, BBQ sauce, & salad dressings.
The upcoming Food Drive sponsored by the post office is a prime opportunity to donate as much as possible to the PBL Food Pantry. Remember, this weekend is not the only time the Pantry needs donations. This is an ongoing work. Every month, every week, the Pantry needs food.
Don’t hesitate to drop off donations on Thursdays & Saturdays between 9am & noon.
