The Paxton American Legion Prairie Post 150 and the Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School band will present a Veterans Day observance for the community at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the high school’s gym.

The program will include the presentation of the colors by local veterans, a POW/MIA table ceremony, the recognition of veterans, and the telling of the legend of the four Navy chaplains aboard the USS Dorchester during World War II.

The 9:30 a.m. observance is open to the public. Also in attendance will be students in grades six through 12.

Gilman — 4-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.

Kempton — 4-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.

Loda — 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.

Ludlow — 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.

Melvin — 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31. (Immediately after trick-or-treating, the Melvin Women’s Club is sponsoring a costume parade for local children at the Melvin Community Hall).

Onarga — 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.

Paxton — 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31. (At 4 p.m., a costume parade will be held in downtown Paxton, and kids will be able to fill up their bags by trick-or-treating at participating businesses on Market Street).

Piper City — 4-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.

Rankin — 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24.

Rantoul — 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.

Roberts — 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.

Sibley — 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31. (The Sibley fire department will hand out candy bars by the gazebo at the park on Sciota Street).

Thawville — 4:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.
