You don’t have to wait for a Book Fair or other fund-raising event to donate to the PBL Education Foundation. You don’t even have to wait for school to be in session. The organization’s website has a Donate button right on the front page. PBL accepts all major credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express & Discover. They also accept Debit Cards.
All proceeds go to supplementing the educational programs for all learners in the Paxton-Buckley-Loda Community Unit #10 School District located in Paxton, Illinois.
Even if you don’t have children in school, this an excellent way to contribute to our community.
Proper and thorough education enhances not only the future of our children but also the future of our communities.
Yes, it’s going to be a hot one this week! Heat advisories are posted for the entire week for our area, and heat indexes are expected to be between 100 and 110 degrees. Here are some tips for coping with the heat:
1) If you work or spend time outdoors, if possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
2) Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke
3) Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible
4) Drink lots and lots of water!!!
Days like the ones we’re going to have, it makes one really appreciate what we lost in our community this year with the pool being closed!
There’s plenty to of programs one can participate in. Among the programs for adults is Volleyball played every Tuesday night starting at 6pm Coady Park. Zumba classes are held at the Civic Center on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays. Soccer and co-ed softball are also being offered.
For the Youth Baseball & Softball League there will be a party on July 31st. GO CHAMPS!!!
Also being offered for the youth: soccer & dance.
And don’t forget: there is a skateboard park located on the east side of Coady park.
The fun begins on Thursday, July 7th & will run through Sunday, July 10th.

Admission Gates Open 6:00 am till 6:30 pm Each Day. Shuttle Wagons tour the grounds continuously, and special transportation is available for disabled visitors. Click the Logo to be directed to the official site for more info.
The Fireworks display was really nice this year. I really liked some of the new fireworks that appeared to have a design in the middle. Then there was those silvery, sparkerly things which seemed to move from side to side. We watched from the country road just east of town and north of Pells and the view is always spectacular. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this a great show…..
