Memorial Day 2011
It is always heartwarming to see the whole town ( well almost) turn out to Honor our Veterans, not only today but also the many volunteers who helped with the Flags at Glen Cemetery. Although we were unable to help with that project or attend the Memorial Services, we were able to do some sprucing and decorating at The Serviceman’s Memorial sign near Monicals. It was an Honor to be able to do this. To say Thank you each and everyday in our own small way.
Photos HERE
Throughout our Nation’s history there have always been brave men and women who fought in countless ways to preserve the freedoms we hold so dear. In freezing cold and Desert heat, wounded, alone, the shells and shooting all around. But even as the bombs and bullets raged around them, still they fought. It is because of these brave warriors that we still live in a Free Country. So on this and “everyday” I say, We still remember, We still care and We still Thank them all and to our troops, who as I write this are off in distant lands, away from their loved ones in fighting for the people and ideals of this country. THANK YOU and Come home safely.
New Flags a Wavin
Thanks to Randy Swan who helped us get the new truck assembly/halyard installed on the flagpole out at the Veterans/First Responders’ Sign. As you can see both the U.S. flag and the POW/MIA flag waving proudly and beautifully. Again a heartfelt thank you to Randy who helped us put everything in place.
For our Veterans & those who serve our country you are Never Forgotten…
Servicemens Memorial Sign
Here is an update for those who are wondering where the Flag went. We do have a Brand new Flag but we are going to replace the entire pulley and rope system. The Pulley has been cracked for years and the rope is also in bad shape. We are searching for replacements and hope to have everything done soon. Also we did replace the lite on the east side of the sign but it burnt out again for some reason. We are also planning some new landscaping this year to really spruce it up.
New veterans Page
In addition to This new Page here, we have created what we hope will be a 1 stop resource section for Veterans on our main website Your can click here for that page.
